Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Directs Young India Skill University to Become Innovation Hub

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to transform the Young India Skill University into a centre of innovation and industry-oriented skill development by establishing a dedicated research centre for emerging technologies and strengthening global employment linkages for students. Reviewing the functioning of the Skill Development Department on Friday, the Chief Minister instructed officials to create a research centre at the university to promote innovation and develop future-ready skills aligned with evolving industry requirements. Employment and Labour Minister Vivek Venkataswamy and senior officials participated in the review meeting. Emphasising industry-academia collaboration, Revanth Reddy directed officials to facilitate internship opportunities for students studying in government engineering colleges by partnering with leading companies. He said practical industry exposure would improve employability and prepare students for emerging sectors. The Chief Minister also called for the introduction of specialised courses in electric vehicle (EV) servicing and drone technology at Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs), recognising the growing demand for skilled professionals in next-generation industries. To strengthen overseas employment opportunities, Revanth Reddy asked officials to further reinforce the Telangana Overseas Manpower Company (TOMCOM). He said TOMCOM should evolve into a comprehensive overseas employment facilitation agency, assisting candidates through every stage of the recruitment process—from passport documentation and visa support to securing jobs with foreign companies. He also proposed establishing a dedicated foreign language training wing at the Young India Skill University to equip students with language skills required for international employment and improve their competitiveness in global job markets. Reviewing the healthcare education sector, the Chief Minister instructed officials to grant permissions for nursing colleges based on workforce demand to ensure the state produces adequate numbers of qualified healthcare professionals while maintaining quality standards.
